Staff Goes Above and Beyond

Often the Little Miracles that occur at Samaritan Center come directly through the efforts of our dedicated staff.  These talented individuals routinely go above and beyond their daily duties to ensure success for our boys, their families and Samaritan Center itself.

One example is Danny Cay, who with his wife Terra is one of our teaching parents.  Danny, a disabled veteran, became aware of a grant that was available through the Home Depot Foundation for organizations helping vets and their families.  Danny immediately saw a fit for Samaritan Center, because we routinely work with military families, helping to address the unique challenges they face.

Danny wrote the grant and won a $10,000 award in labor and supplies from Home Depot Foundation for Samaritan Center.  The grant covered painting, landscaping and the much-needed replacement of appliances in one of our cottages.  Volunteer labor was provided by Home Depot employees, who gave up their days off to make the transformation happen.

Not only did Danny win the grant for Samaritan Center, he worked closely with the Foundation and the coordinator of the project from Home Depot’s SE Florida region to make it happen.  Find out more here

Carl's Cares

Samaritan Center was honored to be the first local non-profit to be featured in a new initiative launched by Carl’s Buick GMC:  Carl’s Cares.  As Carl’s spotlighted charity for July 2019, Samaritan Center received a donation for every car sold - a total of $2,200!  Carl’s also helped us educate the public about Samaritan Center by inviting us to share our story with their sales staff and displaying our brochures in their showroom. The generous people at Carl’s, have already been instrumental in helping Samaritan Center obtain a new van at a price we could afford.  They are truly a valued community partner.
